A loyalty programme for Malmö.
The short answer
Malmö's trade is young, dense and multilingual, which makes a card that works in both Swedish and English and requires no app install the format that reaches the most of the city's customers.
Malmö has a customer base with short distances between alternatives and a substantial share of visitors whose first language is not Swedish. Both point the same way: signup has to be fast, and it cannot assume the customer reads Swedish.
Around Möllevången and Davidshall the venues sit close together and the crowd moves. A stamp card gives that customer a reason to choose the same place twice in a row, which is the whole difference between a visitor and a regular in an area where the line-up turns over quickly.
Proximity to Copenhagen and a large student population also mean part of the customer base is in the city temporarily. That is an argument for a shorter card: a reward that takes six months to reach is not a reward for someone who is here for a term.
